54 year old George Chekan III of Hanoverton, Ohio was killed in an accident that occurred in Knox, Columbiana, Ohio, on January 10, 2014 at approximately 7:10 am. Police reports are that the man was driving a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup, west on State Route 172. He allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the left side of the roadway. It allegedly struck a guardrail end, went over the guardrail and down an embankment. The pickup overturned and ejected the driver before resting onto its wheels. Bartley EMS transported the man to Salem EMS where he was pronounced dead. Prendergast’s towed the pickup.
