A driver’s failure to maintain an assured clear distance from another vehicle was allegedly the cause of a crash that occurred in Allen, Ottawa, Ohio, at approximately 7:25 pm on September 5, 2013 and resulted in injuries for two people. A 56 year old man, Marlon M. Wharton and his 55 year old occupant, Sandra E. Wharton were traveling in a 2002 Jeep Liberty SUV west on State Route 579 and was slowing, according to reports from the OSHP. The 20 year old female driver of a 2000 Dodge Stagea midsize car was driving west on the same road and allegedly struck the SUV in the rear. Both were transported by Allen Clay Fire and EMS to Bay Park Hospital. The driver of the car was charged and Pat & Sons towed the SUV.
