11 Year Old Female Cyclist Injured in Mercer, Ohio

An 11 year old girl escaped serious injuries when the bicycle that she was riding allegedly struck a 1999 GM SUV that was being driven by 42 year old Jason B. Laftin of Celina, Ohio, on May 23, 2013 at approximately 5:41 pm. Reports from the police are that the girl was riding a teal colored Huffy Bicycle north on N. Sugar Street and approached the intersection at W. Wayne Street. The brakes on the bike allegedly failed and it continued into the intersection against the stop sign. The bicycle struck the passenger side of the SUV as it was traveling east on the same road. The girl was ejected and sustained minor injuries. The girl was treated at the scene.
