Elderly Woman Killed; Man Injured in Pike, OH, Truck Crash

An early morning truck crash, which occurred in Pee Pee, Pike, Ohio, claimed the life of a 59 year old woman, Marilyn A. Leeth of Bainbridge, Ohio, and caused injuries to a 39 year old man, Douglas L. Holcomb of Marengo, Ohio. According to reports from the OSHP, the man was driving a 2010 Peterbilt truck, south on Federal Highway 23 in the right lane. The woman was driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty SUV, north on the same road in the right lane. She allegedly lost control of the SUV, which went left of the center of the roadway. It was struck by the truck in the right and the driver was ejected. The SUV then spun around and struck the truck in the fuel tank and went to the rear of the trailer. The truck went off the right side of the road and struck an embankment, while the SUV crossed the centerline once more and struck an embankment. Both were transported by Pike County EMS, the man to Pike County Hospital and the woman to Pike County Morgue. Heistad’s towed the vehicle.
