23 Y-O Woman Injured in Van Wert, OH, as Car Strikes Trees, Ditch

A 24 year old driver who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol crashed and an occupant of his vehicle sustained injuries following an accident that occurred in Ridge, Van Wert, Ohio, on October 8, 2013 at approximately 6:02 pm. Reports from the OSHP stated that he was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus midsize car east on State Route 116 approaching a series of curves. He allegedly failed to slow in the 35 mph speed zone for the curves. He was driving at 50 MPH and lost control after running off the right side in the berm. The vehicle continued through a ditch and into the field, hitting a row of pine trees then struck the ditch again. Middlepoint EMS transported the injured woman, 23 year old Stephany N. Stephenson of Lima, Ohio, to Van Wert County Hospital. The driver was charged and 2A’s transported the vehicle.
