1 Injured, 1 Killed as Vehicles Overturn in Belmont, OH

A 68 year old man, Michael J. Botwin of Fairborn, Ohio, lost his life, while a 51 year old woman, Dora M. Paris of New Philadelphia, Ohio, was injured in an accident that occurred in Poultney, Belmont, Ohio, on October 11, 2013 at approximately 12:19 pm. Police reports are that the man was driving a 2003 Acura RSX compact car, east on Interstate Route 470 in the left lane. The woman was driving a 2005 Mazda Tribute sub-compact car east on the same road in the right lane. She attempted to change lanes and allegedly struck the Acura. The drivers of both vehicles lost control and they overturned several times and rested on the east shoulder. Both were transported by Neff’s to OVMC.

The drivers who crashed because they made improper lane changes were 3,930 that resulted in injuries. Pultney, Belmont, Ohio, whose population in 2012 was 9,700; suffered 41 injury crashes, which resulted in 59 injuries. Those which were angle crashes were 21,458 which resulted in injuries in 2010.
