Elderly Woman Injured in Brown, OH Rear End Crash

A motor vehicle crash occurred on Federal Highway 52 in Huntington, Brown, Ohio, and resulted in injuries for an elderly woman, 75-year-old Ethel Wright of Middletown, Ohio who was treated at the scene. On September 10, 2013 at approximately 1:25 pm. Police reports are that a 79 year old man was driving a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan, along with a 2005 Kia Optima compact car that was being driven by 24 year old Emily Sue Young of Ripley, Ohio, west on Federal Highway 52. The driver of the Kia slowed and attempted to turn left into a private driveway. The driver of the minivan allegedly failed to maintain an assured clear distance and drove left of the center of the roadway, trying to avoid a collision with the Kia. The Dodge struck the Kia in the rear, causing it to rotate off the highway, struck a guardrail and rested over an embankment. The injured woman was an occupant of the minivan. The elderly man was charged and Souder’s towed both vehicles.
