Three vehicle crashes are becoming more common in recent times and causing injuries and even death to its victims. One such accident that occurred in Moorefield, Clark, Ohio, resulted in death for a 63-year-old man, Burleson Grimes, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, and injuries for a 66-year-old woman, Mary Ellen Phillips of South Charleston, Ohio. Reports from the Highway patrol are that Grimes was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on State Route 334, approaching Derr Road. The driver of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, 22 year old Tonya L. Johnson, was headed east on State Route 334, preparing to turn north onto Derr Road. A third vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai Elantra midsize car was being driven by Phillips, east on State Route 334 and stopped in the turning lane to Derr Road north. The driver of the SUV allegedly turned in front of the motorcycle and was struck by it. The motorcycle then continued down the road and struck a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. Moorefield EMS transported both persons to Springfield Regional.
Accidents that occurred in 2010 which involved drivers’ failure to yield accounted for 12,165 that resulted in injuries.
