According to police reports, the accident occurred on May 17, 2013 at approximately 2:00 pm, when two vehicles, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe midsize car and a 1996 Toyota Corolla compact car were headed north on State Route 93. The 60 year old driver of the Pontiac, Brenda C. Kelly of Ironton, Ohio, was stopped waiting to make a turn onto County Route 7F, when the 22 year old woman who was driving the Toyota allegedly failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. The Toyota struck the Pontiac in the rear. The younger woman sustained injuries and was transported by Lawrence County EMS to St. Mary`s Ironton, after which she was charged.
