An elderly couple was killed and five others injured in a head-on crash that occurred in Scipio, Seneca, Ohio, on April 26, 2013 at approximately 6:36 pm. Reports from the ODPS are that a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup was headed east on Federal Highway 224 at the same time that a 2003 Chevy Ventura minivan was headed west on the same road. The 53 year old driver of the pickup, Timothy R. Voress of Lima, Ohio allegedly traveled left of the center of the roadway and struck the minivan that was being driven by the elderly woman, 81 year old Charlotte A. Schumm of Tiffin, Ohio, head-on. Two other occupants of the pickup, Nicholas Ray Vorhess 27 and Jacob Voress 13, were transported by Life Squad to Tiffin Mercy, while the driver was transported by Lifeflight to University of Toledo Medical Center. The woman’s body, along with that of her husband’s Donald F. Schumm were transported by Seneca County EMS to the Coroner and another of the four other occupants, Victor A. Reamer of Tiffin, Ohio was also injured. He were transported by Lifeflight to UTMC. David L. Conaway 57, of Mount Cory, Ohio and Brian Schubert 45, of Belleview, Ohio, who were occupants of the minivan, were not injured. First Avenue Towing towed both vehicles.
